15 20 25 30 costly to replace, and that updating to a newer electronic device can be costly.
Summary An object of the invention is thus to provide an improved hearing protection which allows a simple and inexpensive construction of the hearing protection.
Another object of the invention is to provide a hearing protector in which a unit for wireless communication can be easily replaced.
The invention is based on the inventor realizing that existing models of hearing protection which include absorbers of molded model with exact adaptation to the internal design of the covers during manufacture can be modified by the described absorbent being easily provided with a recess in which a commercially available Bluetooth device can be inserted.
According to one aspect of the invention, there is provided a hearing protector for use with a wireless communication device, the hearing protector comprising: a first and a second cover, the first and second covers each having a respective protective cover and an absorbent received therein, and one, of the first and the second cover, connecting part, which absorbent in at least one of the covers has a recess arranged, in the direction of the second cover, arranged to receive the unit for wireless communication.
Thus, a cheap hearing protection can be provided, which allows easy replacement of a faulty device for wireless communication as well as easy replacement when upgrading or replacing the device for wireless communication.
Absorbent may include means for frictionally holding the wireless communication device in the recess. This provides easy attachment of the device for wireless communication in the cover, which can allow simplified manufacturing process.
The absorbent may comprise an elastic material. By means of the elastic property of the absorbent material, the unit for wireless communication can thus be easily held in the recess by means of friction between the elastic absorbent and the unit for wireless communication, when this unit is accommodated in the recess.
The recess may have a recess enclosed by the absorbent to receive therein a microphone portion of the wireless communication device. Thus, the microphone portion can be delimited from a sound attenuation space which, when using the hearing protector, is formed between a user's head and the absorbent. Thus, sound from the unit for wireless communication speakers can be separated from the microphone, which leads to sound from the sound attenuation room being effectively excluded at the microphone. Thus, an echo effect of a caller to the user of the hearing aid protection can be reduced.
A cover may have an interface that connects the recess to the outside of the cover via the housing. Thus, a user of the hearing protection can communicate via, for example, a mobile phone in wireless communication with the device for wireless communication without removing the hearing protection.
The interface may comprise a channel passing through the cover and absorbent through the cover. Through the channel, sound can thus be picked up by the unit for wireless communication arranged in the cover.
The through-channel can extend from the recess to the outside of the cover in a direction away from the jumper. This design allows efficient sound recording to the microphone as the continuous channel extends in the direction of a user's lower face and his mouth.
The interface may comprise a tubular member. The tubular member can facilitate the transmission of sound to the unit for wireless communication microphone and exclude that sound from the speakers of the Bluetooth unit passes to the microphone, which creates so-called cycle or echo effect.
The tubular member may be fixedly received in the through channel.
Thus, the elastic material in the absorbent, which strives to close to the continuous channel by expansion, can be kept open.
The end of the tubular member facing the recess may be substantially aligned with a side surface of the recess. Thus, sound from the device for wireless communication speakers can be more effectively shielded from the device's microphone, which counteracts echo effects to the microphone and thus prevents the caller to the user of the hearing aid protection from hearing himself.
The tubular member may extend beyond the housing. This allows sound recording from a user of the hearing protection to be more efficient.
Further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following detailed description and from the claims.
Description of the Figures An exemplary embodiment of the invention will be described in detail below with reference to the figures, of which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of an example of a hearing protector according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a section of a cover arranged at the hearing protector in Figure 1.
Figures 3a-b show cross-sections of the cover in figure 2, in which a unit for wireless communication is arranged.
Detailed description The following description of an exemplary embodiment of a hearing protector according to the invention is intended to be provided with a recess in an absorbent included in the hearing protector during manufacture. A unit for wireless communication can be included in the recess. The wireless communication device will hereafter be exemplified by a Bluetooth device. However, it is clear that the unit for wireless communication can also consist of other devices such as, for example, a radio unit.
The shape and size of the recess are adapted during the manufacture of the hearing protector, for accommodating a hands-free type bluetooth unit in the recess, which allows communication with a mobile phone. Thus, during manufacture, the shape and size of the recess are determined depending on which bluish unit model is to be included therein.
With reference to Figures 1-3b, an exemplary embodiment of a hearing protector according to the invention will now be described.
Figure 1 shows a hearing protector 1 comprising a first and a second cover 3a and 3b, respectively, and a bracket 5 by means of which the first and the second cover 3a and 3b are connected. Each cover 3a, 3b has an outer casing 7 in which a respective absorbent 11 is accommodated. The absorbents 11 preferably comprise a sound-absorbing material such as an acoustically damping foam material.
At each cover 3a, 3b a sealing ring 9 is arranged. The sealing rings 9 are arranged on opposite sides of the respective cover 3a, 3b. The sealing rings 9 thus allow the hearing protector 1 to abut tightly against a user's head during use.
Together, the respective absorbent 11 and sealing ring 9 form a sound attenuation space 12, as shown in Figure 2, in which sound attenuation space 12 a user's ear is arranged to be received when using the hearing protector 1.
The cover 3a has a recess 13, open in a direction towards the second cover 3b.
The recess 13 is arranged to receive a bluetooth unit 23, which is shown in figure 3a. Figure 2 shows a cross section of the cover 3a along the section AA in figure 1. The recess 13 is connected to the exterior of the cover by means of an interface 14. In the present exemplary embodiment, the interface 14 comprises one from the recess 13 to the outer through of the cover. channel 14 ”. The through-channel 14 'is enclosed by and extends through the absorbent 11 and the housing 7. The interface 14 preferably also comprises a tubular member 15, which in the exemplary embodiment consists of a tubular silicone rubber. The tubular member 15 is preferably fixedly received in the through-channel 14 ". The tubular member 15 preferably extends a distance d outside the housing 3a. This increases the sound recording capacity of the microphone pair 27 of the Bluetooth unit 23.
The absorbent 11 preferably comprises an elastic material. The recess 13 is designed to follow the shape of the Bluetooth unit 23. The recess 13 is preferably slightly smaller than the bluetooth unit 23. The elastic material thus constitutes a means for holding the bluetooth unit 23 when it is pressed into the recess 13.
The depth 13 of the recess 13 is essentially the same as the depth of the bluetooth unit 23. Thus, the bluetooth unit 23 can be firmly mounted in the recess 13.
The recess 13 preferably forms a channel partially covered in the absorbent 11.
The recess 13 has a portion 13-1 open towards the second cover 3b and a recess 13-2 enclosed by the absorber 11. The recess 13-2 has a, relative to the open portion 13-1, distal side surface 13 'in which the through-channel 14' is opened up. Thus, the recess 13-2 is in direct connection with the exterior of the housing 3a by means of the through-channel 14 '.
The bluetooth unit 23 is thus held in part by friction produced by the size and shape of the recess 13 relative to the bluetooth unit 23, and in part by the recess 13-2 in which the recess 13-2 of the microphone portion 23 of the bluetooth unit 23 is received, as shown in Figure 3a.
Preferably, the end of the tubular member 15 facing the recess 13 is substantially in line with, or aligned with, the side surface 13 ". Thereby, a tight closure between the microphone portion 27 of the Bluetooth unit 23 and the absorbent 11 can be achieved, as illustrated in Figure 3a.
The cover 3a has an upper side 17-1 and a substantially opposite lower side 17-2. The jumper 5 is attached to the upper side 17-1, which can be seen in figure 1. In the lower side 17-2, the continuous channel 14 ”extends.
Figures 3a and 3b show the cover 3a with a bluetooth unit 23 accommodated therein. In figure 3a a cross section according to the section A-A in figure 1 can be seen. The blue tooth unit 23 is accommodated in the recess 13. The microphone portion 27 of the bluetooth unit 23 is surrounded by the enclosing recess 13-2 and abuts against the side surface 13 ”. The remaining part of the bleaching unit 23 is accommodated in the open portion 13-1 of the recess 13. The speaker 25 of the bluetooth unit is preferably directed away from the absorbent 11, towards the second cover 3b. The tubular member 15 preferably abuts the microphone of the bluetooth unit 23. Experiments have shown that when the bluetooth unit 23 is accommodated in the recess 13, an effective attenuation of noise is achieved. The bluetooth unit 23 can thus form part of a sound attenuation system in the hearing protector 1.
Bluetooth devices that can be used with the invention can be commercially available Bluetooth hands-free devices from manufacturers such as Sony Ericsson, LG and Samsung.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention has been described above. The invention is not limited to this embodiment but can be freely varied within the scope of the appended claims. For example, it is clear that in a variation of the invention, the jumper can be replaced with a helmet which is connected to the covers by means of a respective arm. Furthermore, the recess does not have to be shaped according to a specific bluetooth unit, but the recess can be provided with means for holding the bluetooth unit. Such means may, for example, consist of clamping means or the like.
The damping material in the absorbent does not have to be elastic, but the hearing protection can include rigid damping material. Furthermore, the second cover can also be provided with a recess to thereby allow stereo sound when recording a second unit for wireless communication therein. The tubular member may extend from the housing in other directions than those indicated above, which may be provided by a tubular member extending a longer distance outside the housing, for example along the outer housing, towards the lower side of the housing.
